New Chapter policy related to programs:

Our new policy calls for a $10 check to be given to hold your registration. There is a $15 non-member fee to hold their registration.

The checks will no longer be returned.  Money collected will be used to fund scholarships which support education, certification and conference attendance.

Conference/ Certification Reimbursement


WNY ONS is offering Conference and Certification Reimbursment:

Five scholarships will be available annually for a maximum reimbursement of $300 for each approved application an ONS Conference.

Five scholarships will be available annually for a maximum reimbursement of $250 for each approved application for Certification/recertification.

·        Must be an active ONS and WNYONS Member  in good standing  for > one year

·        Must not have received reimbursement through WNYONS  in the past year

·        Request for Reimbursement will be issued for:

ü       Oncology Certifications and recertification through ONCC

ü      Attendance at a ONS Annual Congress

ü      Attendance at ONS APN/IOL

March 19 has been declared Certified Nurses Day™

A special day of recognition and celebration has been created for certified nurses around the world. First-declared by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and endorsed by the American Nurses Association, many other nursing certification organizations have signed on to participate in this initiative – including the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation.Why March 19? March 19 is the birthday of Margretta “Gretta” Madden Styles, a pioneer in championing the value of nursing certification before broad awareness or acceptance of its value had been achieved.Dr. Styles led the firstcomprehensive study of credentialing in the 1970s and was a key leadership figure in a number of national and international nursing organization. ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Training Course in 2010

Get Detailed Chemotherapy Information at ONS’s Most Popular Educational Offering

The ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course will be held March 6-7 in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A. Worth 13.5 contact hours, the course focuses on the knowledge you need to administer these treatments.

Learn more about cellular kinetics, drug classifications, safe handling, administration, side-effect management, and patient education, using the ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Guidelines and Recommendations for Practice as the course text. All attendees will receive their own copy of the guidelines—a must-have resource for any nurse who cares for patients receiving these treatments.

Once you successfully complete the course and a post-test, you’ll receive a provider card indicating you have the knowledge necessary to administer these treatments.
